NOTHING functions without a ground, somethings ground themselves like a car for example, but a ground in neccesary, if you are asking this question do not attempt to install anything on your own.

Man, don't listen to these guys.

"Ground" is one of the longest running scams going.

It's a big conspiracy between the car makers and the wire companies to sell more wire and make cars more expensive.

Remeber the olden days ? there was no ground wires on cars in the olden days.

My friend took all the ground points off his car and the wires, and he's getting like, 40 extra horse, because of the reduction in drag. Gets better gas milage too.

seriously, physics is your friend, crack a book.

a good place to start: http://members.tripod.com/RoBoJRR/basics.htm <-- but turn your speaker off... trust me.

There is a reason why they have grounds now, it's called physics. All those people getting killed by car shocking really gave companies an insentive to change thier design
