Default Grinding/creaking sound from drivers side wheel/suspension area

Recently I have been hearing a grinding/creaking sound from the drivers side wheel of my R. The sound seems to be related to the wheel itself, as the pattern is very regular, e.g., I can hear it once each time the wheel rotates. It's easiest to hear when I'm slowing down to stop, I can very the sound at a very regular interval. I can hear the sound whether I am on the brakes or not. As far as I can tell nothing is rubbing either. Despite the sound the car seems to drive and stop fine. Anyone have any advice?
