Default what car holds up best over time?

i am looking to start a project sometime in the next few months and i dont have much money... so i am wondering what cars hold up best over time? i dont want to keep fixing stuff to make it run like i do with the peice of crap i have now... "its a dsm" i am looking at either a 2nd gen 'teg 2 door, a 3rd gen 4 door 'teg, or a 5th gen civic 4 door or hatch.

thanks for any help.

to be honest though, i really want a 2nd gen 'teg but i'm afraid of needing to spenp to much money on it... i'm soon to be 17 and i dont have much money so thats why i'm asking. also, i'm looking for overall car durability, not just motor.

pretty much depends on the condition of the car when you buy it and the way you treat it

i understand that but what i mean is, what of these cars is the most dependible? i understand that with older cars things need to be fixed but when i buy the car, even if it looks good, i want to know if it will break down after a week or can i drive it and not worry? my current cr looked good when i bought it but i found out that its a pile of crap after i bought it... and i did look at it before i bought it. what i am asking here is, do older 'tegs or civics hold up well after time or is the suspension going to fall off a month after i buy it? i am trying not to make the same mistake i did when i bought my current car. i do look at a car before i think about buying it but i just want to know what to look for and what cars would be best for what i need. what i really want to do is build an all motor 2nd gen 'teg but if this type of cars needs a lot of money to be good, i want to know if i should look elsewhere.

if it says honda on the car or toyota on it than it is dependable

it is just a matter of how well you treat it

cars are like dogs
the better you treat them the better they are to you
the worse you treat them the more they will **** on your floor

remember that and yes DSM's suck
i used to have a Lazer turbo awd and all the darn thing did was break down and
smoke, but hey it was fast

Don't find one with curiously low milage as the seals in the engine and other components may be damaged from sitting so long.
