Default Spare tires for weight reduction?

Hi civic Gurus

A friend of mine was telling me that the best weight reduction is to use spare tires in the back to drag race. Is this safe? also I have a turbocharged b16 and was wondering how I can boost more than 3lbs I am new to this so please help me out.

edit: **** nevermind i thought you were talking about putting spare tires in the back of your car!!! brain fart

i wouldnt use them just because they arent meant to go over 50mph...not that you cant but i wouldnt trust something like that when racing.

as far as your boost question im not sure what you mean.

Thanks for the useful info. so the spares are not equal to the skinnies the drag racers use?

read your owners manuel, Spare "donuts" are not made to be driven over 90km/h, or 55 mph....so why would want this set up drag racing why?

Only 3psi? EDIT: For some reason I thought he said supercharger

I don't think the drag officials would let you run with spares on the back.

If you want lightweight, and I mean really lightweight, Weld makes light as **** rims (4-8lb) that you could use for the rear. Or grab something like Kosei K-1 Racing rims, 15", $120ish each, 13.5lb. I wouldnt run donuts either.

Why is it that people think that just b/c its small it's lighter or have this weird view of common sense?
About the boost. Are you talkin about psi? Then you just need a boost controller and some fuel management if you don't have some already
