Anyone ever overwork their brakes w/ a B swap in thier Civic/CRX?
The other night I was with a buddy and we did a few 0-80 runs. Then 80-0. They were not hard brakes but gradually I slowed down easing into the brakes and letting off. I did this 4 times. The 5th, the car slowed down but, my foot was to the floor, and I was not going to make the turn that I would of liked to turn into cause my car was not stopping. So, it does finally stop, when it does smoke rolls off of the front tires and by smelling it and with what had just happend, I knew that the brakes have faded. This is all fine and is prolly to be expected when one runs thier car this hard and slows down within a short period of time. What bothers me is this last moring on my paper route, the same thing happened accept I was going ALOT slower, never over 30-35mph in the subdivision. I didnt get brake fade, but they did smoke. So Im just wondering if anyone has had things like this happend when they throw a B series into a CRX/Civic.

sounds like u cooked ur pads, i would suggest diong one of 2 things. take the pads out and clean them up, i usually use the asphalt and scrub them down on that, but u can also use a sanding block . or that would prblbaly give u back most of the pedal feel u had before u cooked them. also u will want to lookat your rotors and if they have bad heat marking(blue purple) i woudl turn them or replace them.
next step is to get some better pads. i suggest hawk and carbotec good pads

Its called brake fade, your pads and rotors heat up so much that your stopping distance is greatly decreased due to the excessive friction. And it will take tons of pedal pressure to really apply a hydraulic pressure.
If it isnt doing it now then its not that big of deal but if its doing it alot It wouldnt be a bad idea to do pads and rotors.

well i know that stock civic brakes is not enough when your seriousely trying to do some braking contest or constant HARD braking.
I have driven in ef hb b20 and a ek coupe b18c1, and a boosted eg coupe greddy kit..... what all of these have in common is that stock brakes will not last long.
I think the rotor and caliper power is fine but the pads will crap out on you. I would try some Hawk HP pads or I've heard good things about EBC green/stuff.
getting integra brakes and stock brake pad will only get you very minmal brakeing improvements. best route would be get better qauilty pad and don't even bother trying to clean or re-use your oem pad...
