Default Do I need to increase fuel? NA, ~200whp getting SMSP

I will be getting my SMSP header soon hopefully, and dyno tuning it. Yes, I will be posting numbers. My question is do I need to increase the fuel flow? Larger injectors? FPR? Do I really need to upgrade over the stock equipment for fuel with the numbers I have?

Setup if it helps:
CAI
SMSP w/CAT (on the way)
Greddy PE
AEM pulleys (I know, not a flow item, just listing)
Type-S pistons .25 over
Eagle rods
Crower Stage 2 cams with dual springs/titanium retainers
V-AFC tuned w/o SMSP at the moment
Chipped ECU w/8100 redline
Current WHP 195.2

Any advice/help appreciated.

i think you should be ok, if when your tuning, and you notice you going lean, and you just can't seem to richen it up then you might have the injectors maxed out. try going to http://www.rceng.com and playing around with their calcuator, puting in a 1 for 100% duty cycle.

i think you will be ok, just put a wideband on there, and like i said you can't seem to richen it up, then the injectors could be maxed, but your probably approtching the limits of the 345s

if you have a FPR you can always turn your fuel presure up a few psi, maybe this is a good question to ask joel

Well, it will be tuned on a Dyno, Dynojet 345 to be exact, is that the wideband capable? I assume so.

Secondly, when playing around with that calculator, and I'm putting in 235 bhp or HP at the crank, to get to the 345cc, I need to be at 90% duty cycle. Is is bad to run over 80% as the calculator states you should not go over? Using that calculator, I just may need a FPR to bring it up to 50 psi from what looks like about 40 stock. Too much on other stock components?

Obviously this is not exact science here, but if I'm going to need more fuel, I want it BEFORE I go to the dyno.

Thanks for the input, keep it coming guys......

there is no doubt you will need to add fuel..but I doubt you will outflow the 345cc injectors. I used 370's on my motor but it's really up to you

"No doubt I will need to add fuel", do you mean through tuning with the V-AFC I have, or through larger fuel flow capacity, ie. FPR???

Thanks.

All I have is a FPR and Stock 335cc injectors (flow rate returned from RC) and I'm at 210.. so.... I do know I have to run 60psi though, which is a little high...

before even going to the injectors, i would upgrade to a FPR and a warlbro 255 intank fuel pump. these items should be enough flow for your setup.
im surprised you didn't upgrade the fuel pump already. thats cool though

I think he would be better off investing in hondata and getting it tuned. You could up the fuel pressure through hondata. And selling the VAFC so he could have some cash to tune the bad boy with those cams also.

your gonna need to either look into bigger injectors, or an FPR and crank up the pressure a bit, at the very least.

I've tuned a completely stock JDM h22a, with sknak 2 stage 2 cams, and gears, and a greddy emanage on a stock p13. I pulled off 200whp on a conservative dynojet. we were rolling consistant 191whp out of a bolt-on s2000 the same night, jsut to give u an idea of how the dyno is. And at 200whp, i was pushing about mid 80s duty cycle, that was at stock pressure though.

With the stock 340ccs, and at stock fuel pressure, your gonna be pushing those injectors into the 90% duty cycle at about 205-210whp.

I wouldn't really bother getting a bigger fuel pump at this point. And bigger ones dont affect your fuel pressure at all, unless u get the high pressure version pumps, walbro makes two different versions of each pump, a low pressure and a high pressure. And if anything I would get a 190 lph low pressure walbro, that will be more than enough flow for your application.

What I would suggest doing is going with some slightly bigger injectors like 370s, cuz from the specs, your engine sounds like it has potential to hit 225s with good tuning. And at they very least get rid of that VAFC and get soemthing that you can tune with more presicely. If your on a bugdet get a p28 and chip it and tune that way. Or if your a baller, go for an AEM EMS, :D

Sounds like a FPR is in order. I've been searching, and read a lot about them, but how about any suggestions with pricing? B&M, AEM, Aerosomething......

From my experience the B&M tend to be leaky and a little cheap, look into a AEM one they are much better in quality.
