My crankshaft bolt broke off twice on my 99 SH. Pretty clean and at exactly the same spot (about an inch in from the bolt). I used and easyout to pull it out both times. The only mods I have are bolt on; CAI, 4-2-1 headers, and exaust. Anybody have any ideas?

 

does it break when you ae torqing it, or while you are driving, what are you tourqing it too when you install it ?

 

both times it broke while driving at low speeds ie; 15 mph

 

i had the same thing happened to my 99 on the way to charleston, the night before while burning up an eclipse right when i shifted to fourth it felt like it slipped out of gear for a second i was pulling about 5500 nothing happened right then but the next day when i was on the highway bam!, bolt broke and pulley came off partially and made one hell of a noise. I got a new bolt and it still runs like new. no idea what caused it and the techs were stumped too.

 

yeah dude, thats pretty much what happened to me....the bolt broke off and the pulley came off....grinding sounds. Wasnt too much fun. esspecially twice.

What did you have it torqued to?
