Default 1st time dyno...

i want to see how much power my car is putting right now while its stock but im having second thoughts because ive heard people blow thier motor during a dyno run... a person i know blew his motor on the first run. what are the possibilities of blowing your motor if its stock? And what causes a motor to blow on a dyno run?

i don't want to say "it's not gonna blow" because if it does it would suck. THey do make u usually sign a waiver saying if anything happens its not the shops fault. HOwever, you heard one story of a blown motor, they chances are very slim and just go ahead and do it.

There are alot of factors for dyno "numbers" but on average stock gsr's hit 146ish stock give or take a few.

Assuming this is in your GSR....have you ever taken the engine to 8grand??

Thats all they'd be doing on the dyno. The dyno puts resistance on the wheels just like the road would, they'll drive the car up to third gear and then from ~3000rpm in third gear they'll floor it, and keep it floored to 8000rpm...then you're done.

Dont worry about a thing, you're fine.

just to settle your mind a bit , i ahve dynoed 250+ cars in the last 4 months and 1 of them let go on the dyno , however this was a highly modified (by the weekend warrior customer) motor. turns out he torqued his cam caps to 35ftlbs!!!!instread of 16ftlbs.....broken cam(ouch) dont be worried especially if your car is rather internally stock... honda builds a great motor.

Do not fear the dyno, it is your friend (or enemy, as once you see what power you're making, you will just want to make more and more).
