Default JDM header question

Is it absolutely necessary to have a gasket between the DC JDM header collector and the opening flange on the carsound cat? Neither the DC header nor the cat came with one. Thanks.

I'm sure it is good, but is it absolutely necessary to avoid a leak? Where do I get one since neither product came w/ one?

You need it. Part numbers Type R:

Acura (from an early 90's Legend coupe) - 18229 SPO J51
Honda (from the S2000) - 18229 PCX 003

Local Pep Zone Auto Boys shop may have one that fits - take the header with you and see if you can find one.

If you look at the instructions provided in the DC header box, you'll see the part number for the donut in question. It will greatly reduce the chance of a leak, no doubt.

Isnt the purpose of that donut gasket to allow flex and movement, and still keep a seal... I think that wouldbe important.
