How Big is the S2000 exhaust piping, especially in the muffler??

lowRIDAH,
the exhaust piping is not "big." what is your looking for or looking to do?

i'm swapping an h22 into my ek hatch. i want a quiet exhaust, and i have a chance to pickup a s2 muffler.
i was hoping it would be bigger than the lude piping.

the s2k mufflers are pretty interesting, they are high flowing meaning it's not like a magnaflow muffler with all those contorted passage-ways. Remember it's not just the muffler that quiets things down, there are other resonators in the system that tone out droning and raspiness.

An S2000 revs to almost 9 grand, it has a lot more ehxaust to push out and uses TWO mufflers FYI.
2" is even restrictive on an Integra GS-R's 1.8L 8100rpm engine...imagine it on a 2.2L motor.

The S's only restriction in the exhaust system is when it splits on the piping itself. Other than that, the system is relatively free flowing and was actually designed very well. Thats why the most hp we can get from a bolt on would be 5-10.
And the new S's motor is a 2.2, uses the same exhaust system with different tips. Im well aware of the GSR motor, I ran it for 3 months on a stock 92 cx exhaust system which was a 1" piping...sleeper for ya! lol

speedxracer is correct, the mufflers are pretty free flowing, if you cut one open, you'll see it's hollow with a bridge inside directly the flow through 3 holes in the bridge. You'll be surprised how a 2" stock exhaust system flows on a tuned supercharged car ~ 360whp.

nope, it wont choke it at all.

thanks for your help brah</TD></TR></TABLE>
free flowing is relative to the application. For simiplicity sake, you'll be fine with the factory s2k piping or can upgrade to anything equal size with the inlet of the muffler piping. I suspect the engine is not modified and you don't have a true standalone ecu etc etc to gain maxium benefit from the exhaust system so don't worry so much about flow and consider what you're looking to get out of the system, whether it be sound, looks, or just a stock appearance and function.
