98 Accord Key Transponder Question
Was the Key Transponder an option on the 98 Accord LX or was it there by default? I recently purchased the car and a DEI remote start system. I was going to install it this weekend but read something online about 98+ Accords needed a Transponder Bypass? This whole transponder thing is new to me so if someone could clue me in I'd really appreciate it..
Thanks!
Brian

its called immobilizer and it is standard... the only way for u to bypass it is to place a programmed transponer portion of a key under the column cover right next to the reciever ring
Hey, I can help you out with your question. I also have a 98 Accord and have remote start on it. Well, my friend works for a car audio shop and installed it for me. He used some kind of black box that you can buy to connect to the alarm system. It sends a signal to your car so you can bypass that safety option or what not. I'm not sure what the little box that the key goes into is called but, I know they make it. Just got to any car audio shop and tell them about your situation and they should be able to help you out if they know what their doing.
