Default question about pedal pressure - cable tranny

I just replaced my crx's clutch with a exedy racing clutch. The pedal is now much harder to push in and the catch point is very, very sudden. I have to rev it a bit to keep the engine from dropping rpms too much when it hits the catch point.

Is this normal for an upgraded cable tranny? I ask because I also have an exedy racing clutch (hydraulic driven) in my gsr and it still feels very much like stock. tia
