CRX wiring/electrical gurus...Please help!
I'm going to try and give as much info as possible. I bought an '88 HF from a friend. He began a swap and started to strip out the car as well. The swap is a SOHC ZC. I have a 91 Civic SI ecu with it. He got rid of the stock dash and dash harness. He got rid of the stock cluster too. I got a new dash and a dash harness off of a standard CRX. The cluster is an SI. There was an alarm originally on the car but was in the beginning stages of being removed when I took over so I finished. I got the car back together and it runs code free. BUT, I have some sort of electrical "happening" if you will. When I put the car in the "ON" position, the ECU flashes once (good) and the seatbelt light comes on and thats it. No oil press. no other light just that one. Now when I start the engine the seatbelt light stays on but dims a little (even if my seatbelt is connected and I do have the seatbelt wiring hooked up) and the Check engine light comes on dimly as well (no flashing LED codes). My gauge cluster reads RPM's but not accurate after about 3800rpms, the temp gauge works but my fuel gauge is dead. Here comes a weird one...as soon as I pull the e-brake up the lights on the dash brighten up a little more and the rpms dip about 700 rpms and then jump back up (they are also very jumpy in tracking changes in rpm). Now here comes another weird one...when I pop the rear hatch the lights on the dash go to full brightness and I lose the cluster (rpms, temp, fuel is never working).
Now I have basically regrounded the thermo housing, the engine ground, the tranny ground, the battery ground, the two inner fender grounds, the dash harness ground, the rear ground underneath the hatch latch, and also the ground near the main relay. I believe this to be all the grounds. If I have missed any please don't hesitate to let me know where it is. I am basically looking for someone to at least let me know where to start as this problem is very confusing to me. Please help me it is my only car and I can't get it smogged until this problem is fixed.
Thanks.
Clint

is the interior harness on the hf and the std the same ? the best i could say is get a chiltons manual or helms manual and look in the wiring pages and just start checking wires, making sure they follow what the books say
