Default auto/man?

which one is better for a honda??

auto or man. (5 speed) ??

Or does it matter?? If auto is not as good (or fast) as man, would a shift kit but it back up even with a man?? Thanks.

btw, I am looking to buy a 2000 honda civic ex 2dr with 19,000 miles on it but it's an auto.

stick is fun as hell... thats all i have to say.., but if you live somewhere where there's a lot of stop and go traffic say... southern california it would be a pain

auto lose more power then manual ..

the engine lose around 15 to 20 % of it HP rating through the transmission ....

auto lose more power then manual because the torque covertor ....

auto like many said = less power due to higher losses, but also tranny ratios, which do not keep you in powerband...more expensive to fix, more maintance required....

an auto b16a is comparable to a sohc vtec 5spd, in power and acceleration.....

also if you ever want to auto-x or even do some sport driving, an auto = no control, no fun, no power and nothing but problems...

trust me for a small torquless honda motors auto is not a good idea....on a v6 or v8 its a different store, they got usually torque...

If you want performance with a Honda, why would you even consider an automatic?
