Default Camshaft regrinding and possible o2 sensor problem

I have a 97 accord DX (f22b1) and I am thinking of sending my camshaft to crower to have it reground. Should I do it or is it even worth it? Also, I had my cat removed about a month ago. After a week of running stright piping, my check engine light cam on. Should I replace the o2 sensor that was in the cat? I bought the car used 5 months ago with 125,000 miles on it.

if uve got the money, have them do an entire head job.....then ull see big time noticable gains , but it ends up costing almost as much as going turbo .....

as for the cat....ur saying u ran a test pipe, w/ the 02 sensor just hanging on loosly, or did the pipe come w/ a bung???........dude........ur car is OBDII....why are u even considering ******* w/ teh cat??.........even if there was a bung, its very possible that the o2 sensor will send a cel to the ECU because of all the CO and unburnt fuel that ends up coming out ur tailpipe.........

Agree with fw190bvi with a OBD II car if you remove the cat you will throw a code. If you dont have a turbo removing the cat will not give you that much of a gain.

I had the muffler shop put in a bung for the o2 sensor. So then if thats the case, it would be better for me to just put the cat back on? Damn, and I really liked the way my exhaust sounded

as long as u dont mind having the CEL light on, theres really no reason to change it if u dont want to

As long as you have a naturally asprated engine gutting or removing the cat will have little to no effect on preformance. All you have done is made your car more of a polluter and mabye make it sound a little better.
Gas mileage should not be affected much one way or another as far as the cat is concearned.

as long as the ecu doesnt start to run rich (which it shouldnt), then ur gas milege shouldnt change

gutting ur cat allows you to shoot madddd flames, give u and ue freiends cancer (the ones that do the "instal"), and u get to spite all the tree hugging hippies

go to your local honda dealer and ask for the extended warranty on year 94-98 on most honda except pilot...there is a federal recall on anything that has to do with emissions including 02 sensor and exhaust....i had my valve purge replaced for free b/c check engine light was on....

you might encounter a decline of gas mileage, some obdII computer wouldnt even go into close loop operation with the cel on(cel for the cat related problem)

I have gone down in gas mileage a little bit. I bought the car as a daily driver/ gas saver so I wouldn't drive my big 'ol 1999 silverado show truck that guzzles gas. I have installed bolt ons (intake, header, exhaust) rims, drop, etc... My friend told me that when I put the headers on, my MPG would go down a bit. Is this true? I fill up about every 4 or 5 days.

as far as I know... Delta doesn't touch VTEC cams...

well, i started the thread about a couple of weeks ago but it is no longer in my recent topics links because it is over 14 days...i can't seem to find it now, i think the topic was extended federal warranty....anyway, i got a free new valve purge or something like that for free because my cel was on and the dealership just told me this when i went in to get a quote to fix it...it covers some cars from 94-98 all honda products...it has to do with emmision or exhaust to qualify
