Help out ILOVERACING: insurance wants to repair his wrecked itr...
His itr had an accident and has severe front-end damage. Insurance wants to repair.
Here's what I suggested:
Find out if there is definite frame damage.
If there is: make them total the car out and buy it back with salvage title. You should pay ~$7k for the complete car. Then you can do one of two things:
1. Buy an itr that was stolen and stripped. Move all of your itr parts onto this shell and put jdm front end on it. Result: lhd jdm itr with no frame damage!

2. Have the frame bent back to spec. Weld extra supports and reinforcements to make the chassis stiffer than stock. Put jdm front end on it. Result: jdm front end and stiffer chassis than stock.
If there isn't frame damage: make them give YOU (not the repair shop) the check for the car repairs. Make sure that check covers all new oem acura parts. Then go to step 2. You can save lots of $ by using your dad and bro's shops... This will cover mods, jdm front end, spoon cf hood and lip, etc...
Best thing is to get them to total it out. You'll get the car for less $... Go to the most expensive shop that does the best work and get estimates. Show them to the insurance. They should total it out. Labor is $. If they won't total it out, argue with them. Tell them it won't be safe. Tell your dad to argue with them. Get the body shop to state this too. It can be done and has been done before.
i agree make the insurance company pay out of thier ***! i love to see them fork out their money and then my going car shopping for parts with the spare money from repairs
when going through a friends shop... ahh it feels as if i were rich! lol!
