Default tuned.... but still have LOW whp.

got some cams "suposedly" installed...

skunks s1/springs/retainers

base run dynoed at 158 whp..

the person that was tuning my car asked what cams i have installed..

i told them. S2s1.. he said ok. and went on with the the second pull with some adjustments.

after the next few pulls.. i was still putting down. extremely low whp #'s

he then questioned, whether the cams were "acutually" installed.. b/c the #'s that i was getting were very close to stock..

Pissed off *** hell... i went home called the shop that did the install.
he told me he gurantees the work was done... he told me if i didnt believe him...

he told me to pull the dizzy off and i would see the etching of the cams.... As i was told.. i did it.. and low and behold.... the cam's etching were the same as i remembered when i took it out of the box.

bottom line is... the tuner said i should be around 178-184 whp depending on the setup.

but i only managed to put down 158 whp... what could be the problem??

What engine and mods?

What are you using for fuel and/or ignition management?

well stock is probably around 148-50
get new plugs, check grounds, and maybe a new fuel filter

change oil too, and a fuel filter is only like 20 from acura so why not
maybe your tuner just sucks

tuner has a good rep... spi is the name of the shop. dont know if you ppl heard of them. but i dunno.

any more clues what could be causing such a low whp?

i was told that with skunks s1's i should be easily seeing 170's whp on the set up that i have. but unfortunately i wasnt seeing it

well, if you put down 140 then 158, an 18WHP gain is pretty good. The question you should be asking is "why was my baseline so low"

Check your engine with a leakdown and compression test.

compression is steady at 240 all teh way across.. i said base line pull was low because..... before i had the cams installed.... i was putting down similiar #'s

and since the install of the new cams.. im still putting down simliar #'s

all were from dyno jet. the guys there were saying... simply installing slightly more aggressive cams like skunks.. should be putting me well into the high 160's w/o any tuning...

and with tuning.. i should be hitting somewhere in the 170's

but im not.
