im driving in my 92 lude SI and as i come to a stop at a light, my dash lights come on: ABS, oil lamp... etc... all the car does is it just cranks n thats it... so i had it towed and its sitting in front of my house right now... i read on alot of other posts with people having the same problem... most ive been reading is that its either a bad dizzy or bad timing belt.. If either of these are the problem for me, would that mean that even if i tried to jumpstart the car, it still wouldnt start? And, if i do jumpstart it and it does start, what can that tell me?

im not really one of those DIY kinda people (plus i am really budgeted for cash ), but if there is ne other straight forward stuff i can check on, on my own, please help me out on that... and not really too savvy either, so hehe, kinda gimme some detail / steps i should take for suggested self diagnostics... thanx alot guys much appreciated!

 

A broken timing belt cause the symptoms you describe. It will sound a bit off cranking with a broken belt as well.

oh man... i feel so dumb my friend came over to take a look at it... he noticed the plug that ran from the ignition coil to the distributor snapped off... yup to make a long story short, that was the problem and everything is great... thanx guys for all your 411 n taking the time to help me out sorry if i wasted some of your brain cells
