Default Im officially an idiot...

So I bought a 64mm throttle body last week...installed it...and went to the dyno on Saturday.
The car dyno'd exactly the same as before the throttle body...except from an area between 4900 - 5400 where there was a gain of 3 HP and 3 TQ.
I was dissapointed to say the least

So I get home and Im talking to a friend..and he mentions "What did you use to trim the stock throttle gasket?"

HUH?!?!!? DOH!!!

Yea...I didnt trim ****! I took it off yesterday and measured the gasket...and it measures 62mm...so I dyno'd a 62mm throttle body really...which still kinda sucks since I didnt really see any gains...but now with the 64mm maybe it'll be better?

Also on a side note...when I dyno'd last time...I had done a fresh valve clearance adjustment and had just changed the oil...while now my valves were a little louder and the oil is kinda old...so that may have affected the results.

I ended up triming the stock gasket with an exacto-knife (sp?) yesterday and it worked out fine...no leaks or anything.

I bought the throttle body locally from Versus Motorsports...tehy have them in stock.
Its a JG stock over-bore throttle body and cost $110 plus my stock core.
It came with its own TPS also..so I didnt have to worry about swapping mine over.

Not a bad deal.

Even though the Skunk2 has a 64mm opening, you still have to match it to the 64mm TB. Any slight edge off will create turbulence, which is bad for the flow.

The manifold is fine. After I re-installed the TB I stuck my finger inside and felt around the ende where it meets with the manifold..and its a very smooth transition. You almost cant tell where the TB end and the manifold starts.

Don't be so hard on yourself, HX_Guy. You've already done a great job with your B20 setup, seeing hp/tq numbers that none of us probably would've dreamed. You're a pioneer in the B20 area, and in the future, other people who build up a B20 will really appreciate your research, so keep up the good work!

Hey HX_Guy we were having a debate recently about the effectiveness of the skunk2 manifold. Did you ever dyno your car before and after you changed your IM.

well the increased throttle response should be an improvment right?

dont expect much more power though.......i think over bored T/B's dont give that much extra power unless the T/B becomes a restriction.

I didnt really notice an increases response in throttle either
Whats up with that?

I didget get a chnace to dyno the stock manifold vs the Skunk2..I got the Crower cams and Skunk2 at the same time so I dyno'd the whole thing as a package.
