Default b series trannies and their clutches

Hey,
I have a buddy who was wondering about the differences between the b series transmissions. I am under the impression that all trannies produced before 92 have 20 splines, and require a disc for that particular application, but can use a type r pressure plate. The 92 and up trannies (cable and hydro) all use a larger style and have 24 splines and can use both the type r disc and pressure plate. Just want to make sure I'm not fuggin up big time, since this is what my afternoon research turned up on HondaTech.
