car wont rev past 3500rpm!!!!
Hey everyone,
Well i think my car is falling apart...its a 94 integra RS and im having one problem after another lately. gas tank leaks, pressure plate is about to desintegrate, i eat a quart of oil every 2~3weeks and now this. I started my car and it took a long time for my engine to kick in, and the engine warning light came on. so i drive it home and i find out that the car wont go past 3500rpm...and the car shakes back and forth like it doesnt want to go past.
If anyone has experienced this before, it would be much appreciated if you would tell me what happened so i can try and figure this out.
Thx

One of my fuel injector's power wires was not connected and it threw limp mode. It takes a serious screw-up to cause limp mode, and that means fuel, misfire maybe... If it goes away, it's more than likely a misfire, and more than likely it's ignition related. Check your spark plugs, change your plugs, rotor, distributor cap and wires.
Check your code to be sure and you won't have to guess.

Make sure the LED on your ecu isn't on constantly.. if it is thats a code zero..
Code Zero = bad
It means your ecu somehow took a **** and needs to be replaced.. hopefully its something less severe.

did it ever occur to you that maybe you dont need to rev past 3500...I mean, even you said your car is falling apart, using a qt of oil every other week...maybe its time to do a rebuild and fix everything.
ok guys well today i was coming home from school and it stalled as i was on a red light..brought it home quick, did the pint trick and it gave me a code 04....which apparently according to the website you guys gave me is "Crank Agnle Sensor".....so yeah that doesnt sound cheap.
i do smoke a bit of oil from the exhaust sometimes....but i also read up on the crank position sensor...looks like its in the distributor...so can i just change my distributor cap and rotor and the problem is fixed?...or is the sensor a seperate pice inside.....is this thing cheap, anyone ever fix it themselves???

i've had that problem before.. its not cheap.. you need a new distributor.. the crankshaft position sensor is on the distributor shaft and can't just be replaced..
get a new distributor and fix all your other problems or you might want to look into doing a swap.. at least you can start clean.. (if you get a decent motor)
