Default Is this a good helmet?

I dont know much about helmets. All I know is that I need one to race. I did a quick search on the internet and found one that looks decent. Its the Bieffe B8.

Construction: Composite Thermoplastic Shell
Interior: Removable/Washable
Standards: SNELL M 2000
Shield: Ratcheting Clear Shield
Price: $99.99

All I do is AutoX and drag race, so I dont need a fancy one. Just one that will pass tech. Does this seem like a good helmet and price?? The place I found this at is http://www.helmetcity.com/cycle/b8.html

I don't see why it wouldn't work. But remember, autocross is a gateway drug, and if you ever need a SA rated helmet, the money spent on the M rated helmet is wasted. Not to mention the realbenefits from having an SA rated helmet, and it's not like the price difference is that much.

Your helmet is the single most important safety feature . . . don't skimp on it.

I personally wouldn't wear a $99 helmet.

Bieffe makes good helmets and that is a reasonable price for one. But, as mentioned, if there is any chance at all of doing high speed events (driver ed, solo1, hillclimb, whatever) get an SA helmet.

hehehe I knew all you guys would say that!! (dont skimp on helmet)
Soloracer thanks, but Im not interested.

I think I will probably buy that helmet. Gateway drug, eh? Maybe if you have money. Im poor, I just like to AutoX and occasionally Drag Race. Actually I want a motorcycle style helmet for when I ride my quad. (Slow Yamaha Timberwolf)

Thanks for the input fellas! BTW, what is the requirement for SCCA road courses?? Like what did the guys in Topeka need to compete? Thanks!

Topeka was autocrossing so it is the same requirement as local stuff.

Road racing will require an SA95 or SA2000 helmet.
