might be gummed up a bit if you ever had an oil leak around that area. Try taking a bearing puller to it. If you have the pulley off it should be no problem. otherwise try working it off with a flat head screw driver.

I've tried pulling the key out with every tool I have and I've tried prying the gear off with a flathead but it just doesn't budge... WD-40 isn't even phasing it..... this is weak... Does the key just slide out away from the the gear??? That's what it looks like but it won't...

yup that proved to be a bitch for me too, whats doing it is that the key way jaming the gear so it won't slide off,

what you have to do is get that key way out, spray the **** out of it with a penetrating lubricant, and try to wiggle and work the key way

try not to pry behinf the gear, there is a flimsy metal guid that keep the timing belt in line, if you warp that, it might chew your belt

it certaintly was a bitch to get off, i completely fucked the original keyway and guide washer that is behind the gear. but the only way to get it ot is get that keyway out. the key way ison a ramp that jams agiant the gear

oh the key, heheh right. Yes the Key does slide out like the crank pulley. If wd40 does not work try carb cleaner. If that does not work sacrifice the key and use some vicegrips and a blowtorch (sparingly). That might free it up.

yeah i completely fux0red my original keyway, but the pirate is right be careful with that tourch if you have too, excessive heating can damage the seal behind the gear,

unfortunatky depending on how stuck it is, you may have to sacrifice the keyway, just keep spraing it nd letting it soak

I would slide the crank pulley back on and then try gently rocking the pulley back and forth a little to try to see if that loosens it up a bit.

In case anyone else is having trouble removing the timing gear, I used a 38mm Axle nut socket, put it against the gear it and hammered it to release it from the key. That made it possible to remove.
