Default tire size?

I have a stock accord and am upgrading to performance tires with the stock rims. just basically wondering if a 205/60/15 will fit on the stock 195/65/15. Any thing i should be concerned about or care to share experiences?

Also any notes on tires? I was thinking about getting the Yokohama AVS ES100's and have heard good things about them in this forum, any other ideas for tires of that quality/price?

thanks!

55 seems a little small to me on 15inch wheels...but it'd give you better gearing i suppose with the smaller tire diameter

I'm running AVS ES100 205/60/15 on my '01 Sedan, they work fine. They are a vast improvement over the 195/65/15 Michelin MXV4 that came with the car.

I definitely appreciate the fact that they're not too expensive, either. I think I paid around $350 or $400 installed from TireRack.

A buddy of mine has one of the Falken's, either Azeni's or Zeiks (not sure if this is a Falken tire), and they're sticky as hell but more of a race tire than the Yoko's. For what the Accord is (mine is stock), the Yoko's work out pretty well, I'm sure you won't be disappointed.

Just be wary of the fact that, when cold, UHP tires aren't the grippiest in the world. Also when they're cold and it's wet out they can be a little more slick on the road than the MXV4's.

Yes, but what was your original tire size? I'm not sure what the '90 comes with.

The stock size on a '98 should be 195/65/15 (for the 4-banger, at least). So 205/60/15 gives the closest match. 205/55/15 will be about .9" smaller, whereas 205/60/15 is about .3" smaller.

Yeah, so 205/55/15 is a good match to stock diameter if you have 15" wheels on.

But for 195/65/15, 205/60/15 is the closest match.

Of course, 225/40/18 is even closer....

thanks for all the input, i ended up getting the 205/60/15 which fit and they handle like a dream!!! the stock size on the 98 stock is 195/65/15 so yea its a good fit. only downside is that the retards who installed them messed up the valve stem on one tire so i got a flat like 30 miles after riding on them.

Dude that does not sound safe. I would go back and tell them to fix it.

Damn, that sucks! At least it should be easy to fix (assuming no other damage was done).

Which tires did you go with? The Yoko's?

Just remember to give them a good 500 mile break-in period without some hardcore driving, they'll last a little longer.

That reminds me, I should probably rotate mine....hmmmm
