Default Accord Carpool Lane Question

Sorry if this is a repost but i did a search and didnt come up with anything. Ok here goes my question. I think I heard something a while back about the newer (like last 2 generations) accords being allowed to go in the carpool lane with just one person in the car because of the very low emissions that the base line 4 cylinder engine puts out. Is there any truth to that or is it just a myth? Anyone ever hear of anything like that or it it just me? Also if true... would you need some type of special sticker or something from the DMV or what. Thank you in advance for your help and once again sorry if its a repost.

we don't even have carpool lanes here in NC, but in VA you have to have 2 people in the car.

Maybe if its a ULEV accord? I would consult the CA DMV or CHP websites and do some research

Well its not even my car, its my girls and she called the DMV and her local PD and both had no idea what was going on..... I mean I understand about the DMV not knowing cuz the workers there (or at least at mine) are not exactly top notch. As for the PD well carpools are out of their area arent they? I guess the CHP would be a good place to call. Thanx

obviously the whole purpose of the carpool lane is to help reduce emissions, by reducing the amount of cars on the road....not for cars with low emission output already.

i typed that wrong kinda, they are for any cars wether low emission or whatever, but the whole purpose is for cars traveling with multiple passengers, which helps reduce emissions by reducing the amount of cars on the road

yes but at the same time certain motor vehicles such as motorcyles and electric or electric/gas hybrid vehicles are allowed to use the car pool lane with only one individual because of their low emmissions rates. That was what i was wondering because the 4 cylinder accord is registered as a ULEV, i believe. making it a very low pollution vehicle in which case the law can not deny it access because of how many people. If it did that would mean that the law is playing favorates with engine types or manufactureres when the vehicles themselves are all producing the same amount of pollution.

interesting--i thought the carpool lane was for vehicles with multiple people only for the concept of reducing cars hence reducing emissions---sweet learn something new every day

I don't know about other parts of the country, but in the Dallas area, the only things allowed in the Carpool Lane is vehicles with two or more passengers and motorcycles.
