Default cars dies out of nowhere!

my friend has a 93 integra ls. he has dc headers and a knock off intake system. lately, when he would turn his car on, it wo uld idle around 1500 rpm and then all of a sudden, it would just drop to about 500 or sumtimes it would stall out. what would the problem be? any ideas? his car has about 165k miles on it. thanx!

My car would just crap out and die every once in a while. then it just died, i watched my tach just slowly fall. It would not start at all even though it had plenty of gas and turned over fine. I pushed my car to a gas station that night since it was late. The next day i checked for spark, no spark. On a b16 head the distributer has the coil and igniter in it. On mine one of the two broke, you cannot tell by looking at it which one broke. I replaced both...$200 from Acura. My advise to you is to check out your distributer, maybe even just take a look at the contacts on the cap and rotor.
Hope i am of some help.
