****.. i was in a minor accident about 2 weeks ago, and i thought i got off lucky with almost no damage. now i just found out that my automatic transmission is cracked and will need to be replaced.

the guy at the shop where they discovered this thinks that it might be covered under the acura warranty since my car is so new. ('01 w/ 29k miles) im still under warranty, but since this was from an accident i think im fucked. would warranty cover something like that?

 

I dont think the warranty would cover it since its a personal damge you've done to it. The warranty on the car protects it from breaking on its own, but not something that you caused.

Ok, i didnt think so. but here's the situation - it wasnt an accident with another car. I hit some ice and slid off the road into a ditch, i must have cracked the tranny on some rocks or something. I never filed a police report because i didnt think there was any serious damage at the time.

Will insurance still cover me on this?

 

If you don't file a police report then insurance will not cover, don't tell your insurance company that you got into an accident and didn't call the 5.0, they maybe be un happy with you then. And depending on your previous record it's never good to have any accident on your record if you caused it or not. But some how i have 4 tickets and none have reached my insurance and i have pemco. "We only insure safe drivers." I'm just praying. You have 48 hours to file a police report or it didn't happen. It's probably best to just bite the bullet on this one and pay cash to the shop to reduce the price a little.
