Default Sqeeking brakes

My rear brakes started squeeking pretty loud but only once in awhile when driving. The first couple stop lights it would squeek, then it would stop. Is it the pads that need replacing? how much would it cost?

It could be the wear indicators starting to brush against your rotors. Take a look at your pads and see how much meat they have left on them. If it is still decently thick then your pads are still good.

not sure if this is right but i my friend bought a car awhile back, and his brakes were sqeeking really bad. we went to the dealership and they said that new brake have something like metal or something in them that makes it sqeek. it's there to make the brake pads last longer or something. my brothers rsx also sqeek and he bought his brand new.

When in doubt check for TSB's.. And guess what, there's one out there for 3rd gen Integras about the rear brakes squeeking. It says to replace w/ OEM brake pads and shims and apply molykote or something on the shims to help the shims absorb the vibrations..

Mine never did this until my mechanic said that I can just throw the shims away because I don't need them. I guess he really doesn't know what he's talking about sometimes..

Good Luck..

What they mean by that is warranty against defects and premature deterioration. There is no brake pad that has the lifetime warranty that you're thinking of.

Yes, switching brake pads is probably the easiest DIYer. Front pads are a tad bit easier to change than the rear.
