this is why the picture threads always get bumped to the top. someone says CTR and everyone wants pics...

best turbo? depends on your hp goals and if you're willing to rebuild your motor.

Hey all,

OK, I got some pics but I can’t post because I’m new (“trial” member). I also tried attaching them to the reply but it won't work. I'd be more than happy to send them to any of you as attachments (5 jpgs 368 Kb). i just need some advice, but everyone want's to see pics first (help a guy out here please, c'mon).

As I said it’s stock (but I don’t think you got these early “CTR”s in the US): short stroke titanium shifter, recaros, low-hz stainless muff, rear rotors, SRS, ABS, underskirts/spoilers, 368mm leather momo, strut tower bar, performance rod, 7-spoke mg rims, etc…

The reason I want to increase power/torque is specifically to beat EVOs and WRXs. I’m guessing that I’ll need 400 horses at the wheels to do tackle them?

The spec sheet for the ’97 CTR states 185 PS @ 8200 rpm and 16.3 kgm @ 7500 rpm, but I’ve never dynoed it. It really light 1090 kg (~ 2400 lbs) also.

So I really need to know more about the best turbo I can put on a B16B. Like I know about the big brand names, but I need a model #, etc. I can get a mugen chip that’ll change my vtec kick-in and top rpm from the current 6,100/8,300 to 4,700/9,100 and I’m aware I’ll need new springs first. But the next step is the turbo…

Can anyone help out, like has anyone got some experience turboing the B16B?

Thanks!

Why does everyone want to see pics in this forum already? to non-tech related pics.

don't turbo the CTR..... It was meant to be a all motor beast. Invest in some cams. and a 4.7 final drive.

I agree, something about a turbocharged CTR just doesn't sound right. Leave it pure. Do some autocross or something.

If you are really concerned about beating WRX's and EVO's, you might want to consider a different platform.

compression is really high on the B16B....i wouldnt turbo it just like the B18C5/C unless you do some block work to it

I agree with the others in not putting a tubo on it, but that's just b/c I'm a all motor kinda guy... It's your car though, do what makes you happy

agreed! You wont' be able to boost very high with such high compression on that lil b16b.. you'd probably be able to pick up a Top Fuel turbo kit with the correct pistons for proper compression for a decent price since your bro lives in Japan. That'd be your best route for boostin the b16b..

redlinetuning is right, but others are right about keeping it all motor also. Turbo if you must but I would build the block a little and deffinetly LOWER the compression. But then again when you do that it kind of defeats the purpose of having a CTR like the Integra Type R. Your brother should have gotton you a GSR instead of a CTR, that would have been the perfect platform to do a turbo build.

But I know it was a present from him so...... hell I wouldn't turn down a CTR either but I would also turn it into an all motor headbusta.

Pics please!!!!

I'd keep it NA, get some good high rpm cams and a head built for it and make some good High end hp. Sure it won't be as fast as a turbo car, but being able to rev the **** out of a car can be fun too right?
