I have read that the Willem burner is run off 12v power but I have a bench top power supply that puts out 13.8v. Will this work fine? just don't want to toast my buddies new burner.

I am pretty sure the willem unit can take use anywhere from 12-24volt supply. I believe a few certain chips that we would never use actually require 24 to write but most only require 12. The average 12v supply puts out way more than 12 at low load anyways.
