It is only for the bseries.

Use your d-series cable tranny with the z6.

reason i dont wana use the cable tranny is ...
88+ cable trannys didn't use hardened differential pins and when you start to put more 160hp to them the spider gears start to eat though the pins.

I believe there is a kit for the D series (might be the same kit for B series but with different tranny mount). From what i hear the only difference is the tranny mount. They should be coming out with it very soon if they dont have it already.

if you dont upgrade the drivetrain and just feel like power shifting whenever u feel like it u will destroy a transmission in under 5k...

hell...stalling for 2 days straight will even make u need a new clutch under 5k..

its how u take care of it that makes the difference. but your right D series trannys are teh suck R

hm. With the amount of boost I'm looking at running, and the size of the turbo, I might be better off to just rebuild my DX tranny, and throw the si diff and final drive into my DX tranny, and do that. The gears are a little long, but like I said, with the amount of boost..it's going to need time to spool up. Hmm..

Why the drive swapping Si to DX Tranny...... They have the exact same ratios, it's just the final drive that's different

http://thenew.gamesbbs.com/~dmoore/tranny.htm

As far as the hydro tranny goes, I've read about using the peddle assembly and the slave cylinder out of a later model with a custom line to the tranny, but that was a B-series swap (Pre Hasport kit).

The conversion kit just mounts an arm assembly onto the hydro tranny, so you can use your stock clutch cable. That means, if the Hasport kit can't be modified, a comparable piece could be built for the D-series hydro tranny.

The problem is the mounts from what I can tell. I know you normally have to use the stock Motor mount from the 88-91 when you swap in a D16z6 (and of course the other 3 mounts are on your old tranny). So, the later model D-series w/hydro mounts must put the motor and tranny in a different location........ It would seem like 3 new tranny mounts might be required to swap the hydro tranny (along with the cable conversion and the 1 stock Motor mount).

Anyone else???????

Haha, yep...WE. I appreciate the input so far. It's definently helpful. I still got my head and block work to do before the actual engine is ready to go in, so that gives me some research time, I suppose.

I really wouldn't complain keeping the DX tranny though..but if I can get some mounts fab'd, I wouldn't complain either. Whatever gets me on the road
