HOW BIG OF AN AIR COMPRESSOR DO I NEED TO PAINT MY CRX???
well it depends on what gun you got and all.... some use more than others.... i would say a min. of like a 25 gal.... couple of pony's..... i use a 30 gal. up right with 5 horsey's.... it works... just got to let it build up pressure after every coat.... but the horsepower dont mean **** as long as you got a big tank.... the horse power is just to refill the tank...... happy painting.
I'd run to Sears within the next week because they have a pretty decent sale on compressors. They've got $50 off some compressors and $10 off some air tools. I'm probably going to buy this black verticle 30 gal. 5.5 hp compressor for $249.99 before the sale is over.
its not how many HP you have but how many CFM it puts out and the tank size. You wand at the minimum a 25 gallon tank, and I like at a CFM rating @ 90psi thats higher than the Guns CFM is. The gun sprays in the range of 25-45 PSI so you will have more capacity than you need so when you regulate it down you don't have a pressure drop in the middle of spraying. Use moisure filters at the gun, and what has worked for me is 25 feet od hose then a water seperator, another 25 feet of hose then a disposible water/dirt filter at the gun. Water seperators don't work well at the compressor as air is too hot to seperate moisuture. that first 25 feet of hose lets the air cool so water seperator work. Unless you live in a real arid climate that is VERY important.
make sure that you get a water seperator while you are there. There is nothing worse than getting to much moisture in your paint.
yeah dude as many gallons as you can afford, i would rather have a 50 gallon .5 HP compressor than a .5 gallon 50 HP... not that they come with 50 hp engines
