name this Y1 diff!
i pulled this thing out of my trans, does NOT look stock. looks to nice to be stock, i guess..
can anyone identify it? i would really like to know what it is and what kind (helical, viscous,clutch)
BTW it is for sale too

I have the same lsd sitting here, except mine has a torn up ring gear. I bought
mine used, but it was also supposed to be from a y1 trans. So either this was a
common replacement back then, or this is what the stock y1 lsds look like. If they
are stock, then their realy damn nice for stock units.

Also, clutch type lsds use clutch plates, and viscous work with special fluid that
thickens under use. This is neither of course, so it kinda narrows down the options
for which type it is

kinda looks like aclutch pack would be in that sealed side if u ask me.
i had an ATS and u can see the clutches on that one but this sealed up side u cannot see anything in there

No, its definatly not a clutch type. If you finish dismantaling it you would see another set of gears in there. Actually, you see those two tiny oil holes on the side of the housing? i think you -might- be able to see the gearset though there if you look.
