Default New Civic

I'm new to the car world but I would like to get a good start in it. I haven't bought my car yet, but I do know that i will be buying a new 2004 Honda Civic. My problem is that New York City isnt as big a racing community as other places like Miami or Los Angeles and I'm not familiar with any garages or stores in my area that would have the type of parts that I need as well as be able to put them on. If anyone in the New York area has recommendations or knows of any garages/stores in general where I can have work done and purchase parts I would greatly appreciate any information. Also any good websites that you may know of that have products and product information would be greatly appreciated. Even telling me your favorite car tuning magazine would help me out. I would greatly appreciate any information and advice you can give me. Feel free to contact me any time.

If you're talking about street racing, then leave.
If you're talking about track racing, then https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=658765 . This post has a couple of shops around the NYC area. Unless your buying an Si, don't expect to have a fast car, because any mod that will make your car remotely fast will void your warranty.
Want some advice? Don't buy a new car if your looking to mod it. If you want a good platform that is fairly new, then buy a 99-00 Si. Not just saying that because I have one for sale, but its a good newer car with tons of potential and you won't have to do a motor swap to make it fast. Looks damn good too.

Due to insurance and trade in issues i must buy a new car. Also im not planing on racing this car, this car will be purely for show. Also I have approximately $12,000 to spend on Interior and Exterior customization.

I beg to differ, lots of people care about exterior and interior and its what im going to do so if you dont have anything beneficial to say, dont say anything at all.

you should probably check out the appearance/cosmetic section.

this is more of a performance/technical forum.

It's cool that your going to do a show car and not pretend it's fast. You should check out the Apperance/Cosmetic forum. You'll get a lot more help there than you will here. Good luck with your project.

Although, that's a lot of money to spend on some nice performance mods too
