radiator fan problem
i need some help . its a 94 accord . i have a feeling that both of my fans are not working . and i dont know how to test to see if the fans work or not . this is a problem to me because i notice my radiator is losing about a quart of coolant a day and i have to fill it back up again . and i dont really want to waste $5 a week on coolant just so i can refill my radiator . can someone please help me with this problem . i have checked and there are no leaks . and there are no blown fuses either .
i dont know if this helps in any way butt i do not have a/c hooked up either .

if theyre are no leaks anywhere, may i ask how your losing coolant??.....ie, where is it going???......and why does this automatically become a cooling fan issue.....are the fans running????
I agree with fw190bvi. How are you losing coolant if there are no leaks? Is the car overheating? How much do you have to add and how often do you add coolant to top it off?
my buddies FC had a bad water pump/seal, and u could see the puddle of coolant on the ground.....so perhaps uve got the same deal
do you see the coolant leaking, or is it just myseriously vanishing?

You don't have white smoke coming out of the exhuast, do you?

first there was a leak from one of the heater hoses butt i replaced it with new hoses and found no other leaks . i just replaced the thermostat 2 months ago as well . and i replaced both of the fans 2 years ago when i bought the car . usually i always heard my fans come on after driving for a long while and now i dont even hear them at all . the only thing i could think of is possibly the fans are not running so the coolant might be evaporating because of too much heat ?! thats why i asked if there was a way i could test my fans to see if they are still working .
oo and i dont have white smoke coming out of my exhaust . butt i am just curious what does that mean when you have white smoke ?!
p.s. i have an h23 . could that be one of my coolant issues maybe ?!

umm if your losing that much, youll def. see a leak, i dont see where else it can go... sure its not a hairline crack anywhere on the radiator? its hard to see those unless you get all up on it to check...

no its not a blown headgasket . butt i will try to check again for any leaks . i still havnt gotten the answer yett on how to test the fans . i want to check those first before i check on anything else . so can i hook up the fans to a battery or something or run a multimeter to check the voltage on the fans ?!

just turn on your car and let it run for a while, the fans eventually come on... or give it a hard drive for like a mile and listen out for it... i doubt malfunctioning of the fan can cause that much of loss in the fluid... 1 quart is alot.

it cannot be the fans that are causing the leak. your fans are completely independent from the flow of water. they are just electric fans bolted in behind the radiator. they could operate just fine even if the radiator wasn't even there, or if they were removed from the car.
furthermore, just because the fans don't come on doesn't mean they aren't working. i've found that in cold weather, the stock Honda engine tuned properly might not get hot enough to turn on the fan. only if you're sitting at a dead stop for a long time (no flow of air through the radiator will they come on during winter.
if you are losing coolant, and you can't find a leak, the worst case condition is that you have a blown head gasket, but in this case you will see white smoke coming out the tailpipe and the engine will not run well. Check your oil and see if it is milky (or your radiator has an oily film floating on the water). In this case coolant is getting into your oil and you have big problems. If these are OK there still could be a situation where the leak only occurs when the car is running at high RPM. You could try having a friend run it up to 3k or so while you look underneath.
most times coolant leaks come from the radiator, the hoses, or the water pump.
