Chatterbox?
anybody using a chatterbox, which brand is a good buy? thinking of getting one but dont know which one to get. also will 2 different brand chatterboxes be able to communicate with each other..for example, will chatterbox brand "A" be able to communicate with chatterbox brand "B" as long as they are dialed in on the same channel and talk group? thanks
i recommend the chatterbox hjc-frs, it's the one you've probably seen the most. i think as long as you're on the same channel, you can talk. .. i have one but i haven't used it in a long time.
My friends and I ALL have chatterboxes. WE all sport the X1 or X2 just because if you get anything other than those models, you will be picking up people on their motorola phones and walkie talkies. The lower models also use the same frequencies as truckers and other common walkie talkie type communication. With the higher models you can pick channels that no one will be on. They are pretty fun to use. It helps communicate when there is something in the road or when running or cops. -=oP Half the people hate using them and the other half love them It depends on how much you need to talk to your buddies.
My friends and I all use the Chatterbox. We have the FRS X-2. They were invaluable in downtdown Dallas traffic in the pouring rain (8 bikes). I like them, you do get some feedback and static which is sometimes loud enough to hurt. Not sure why this happens and it's frustraiting to me. Be sure you get the one with the LED display. This gives you the ability to change channels and groups, otherwise, you'll only have channels 1 and 2 and you'll get a lot of interference with other devices. It will also allow you to attach an audio device for music with is VERY nice.
