well, time came that i finally got my sorry *** to the dyno. i was nervous the car would blow up, because i re-installed the cam and **** earlier in the week, and im no mechanic by any means. according to the timing light, my ignition timing is a tiny bit retarded, and supposedly my car was running a little rich, cause it was throwing out a bit of smoke out the exhaust. in general, it was just about exactly what i expected.

i was stopping the runs at 7000-7200 on the car tach, which is off a lil, as you can see.
d16z6- 140,000 miles on the stock block, compression tested at 210 psi across all 4 on wed ->cai/ls throttle body/hondata im gasket/h/e. the motor also has a 3 angle vavlejob, was milled .02in and is running skunk2 valvesprings(on an otherwise stock vavletrain
), and a walbro 255 pump.
to ray z for having a beautifully clean shop/dyno and being cool as **** to me when i was there

Not at all...Iluvjasmine dynoed his jdm d15b w/ bolt ons at 115 baseline and then 123 after vafc tuning

I don't really think thats all that bad. Do you think that 3-angle valve job is helping you much without the head being ported? Also basically all you have on there that is making power is basically just boltons and you have the head milled a little bit. The valvesprings aren't really making any power. So I think that dyno really isn't too bad at all.
Now slap a zex 59300 or crower stage 2 cam in there and see what kind of numbers you can lay down reving up around 7800-8000 rpms. Oh also could you tell a difference in power with that hondata intake manifold gasket? Or was it just the temperature difference that you could feel when you touched the intake manifold?

well im actually done with this setup and persuing forced induction for this coming summer, which is why i kinda just wanted to see how things were going before i moved on. the hondata gasket makes a difference in what you can feel to the touch, but i woulndt claim it to be making much hp. im not sure about the 3angle, but the head needed it cause it was pitted and dirty as **** when i first got it, so the valves wouldnt seat properly. here is a pic from when i got it back from the machine shop- 110% better than when i first bought it

haha nice man. I too am going forced induction soon. I would still maybe buy a zex cam if I was you since you already have the skunk2 valvesprings and all. I have a zex 59300 cam in my y8 right now and am going to run it with my boosted setup. I really didn't think it would be a good cam for boost, but I was proven wrong. i went to the meet at speedwurks. i was there from like 11 till 3, when my friends wanted to get going- it was a cool meet. (ray's place was unbelieveably clean
).between the meet and the dyno- i had a good time yesterday
MShue- i would love to pick up one of those zex cams, but my head is cast like *******. i had to have the back of the oil journals in the head ground down for 3+ hours to try to fit my skunk2 st 1 cam, and it still dont fit, so im very weary of spending the money on the 53900 and having it not fit like the skunk one....

yea it does. i called skunk2 a few times and was like the part u sold me does not work in my head, they told me to grind it down. i told them i did and it still didnt fit, and i want my money back. they have not given me a good response and are not helpful at all to deal with. the worst part is the old head i took off that has over 120,000 miles and is sitting in my basement fits the cam fine

zex cam is great, it would probably work well with your setup. check out my almost stock z6 dyno:

stock intake with paper filter and removed resonator, stock exhaust with test pipe, 58mm B16 throttle body, removed power steering belt, and a Zex 59300. everything else stock.

I would love to see this over a B16 dyno. I'm sure the graphs would looki almost identical, except the B16 revs higher. Give the D16 equal gearing it would smoke a B16.....much better mid range throttle response

Just for you Evan

hmmm, looks like the D out torques the B from 4300-5700. YEAHHH HAAA!!!
Deep down do have 'some' D series love.....
