18" wheel - Best Tire Size
Hey all. I am getting ready to order a set of 18"x7.5" wheels with 45mm offset for my 01 prelude. What would be the best tire size to go with. Will 225 width tires fit with a 40 or 35 sidewall, or will I have to go 215 width? Any help would be appreciated....thanks.
225/35/18 is the right tire size for 18" rims
however, youre offset is a bit off from ideal, ideal being 48+
you might...very slim chance...rub in the rear...best way to overcome that is to cut the rear bumper tabs
also, if you live somewhere where the roads are just horrible, you might want to go with 215/40/18's...I had them and they helped a bit with protection

Thanks for the quick replies. Like 4bidden said, 215 is a waste on 7.5" wheel. I had 19" wheels with 225x35 tires on my old car (eclipse), and the ride was a little rough, but not too bad. The roads are pretty good around here. The extra 40 height would be nice for rim protection, but I guess i would rather have the extra width. I'm looking at those new nitto neogens. I had nitto nt555's on my old car, and they were great tires. First had pirelli p7000 super sports (too hard), then kuhmo ecsta supra's (great handling, but wore out fast). Been a fan of nitto ever since those triple 5's.

I'm running 225/40ZR18's on my 4th gen, and they fit with no problem at all. Tire diameter is a little larger than stock, but at least there is some rubber showing (unlike the 35 series tires).
i am running the 40 series tires, when i was on 35's i found it way too rough and really bent more rims, get the 40's they offer better protection, the tthicker the rubber the better in any scenario
