Default 404's V.S. B16 Head?

I have the option of either getting 404's for my ls engine or getting a full b16 head with intake manifold. There about the same price.I know alot of people are gonna say too wait too do a full build up for the ls/vtec.But im never going too really touch the bottom end.If i can hit 160-170 hp or so thats good .But i just want too know what result will be better 404's or b16 head?

I don't think you're going to hit 160-170 in a 404'd LS with no bottom end work. With just bolt ons and the 404s you'd probably make about 150-155.

someone with 403's got that 155 hp.I would imagine it could get 160 or so.Basically what would be better with no bottom end. What kind of horsepower would just a stock b16 head make?

It would be similar, maybe a touch more power.

I went the b16 route and it was well worth it. Picked up the head for $350, so it was cheaper than buying 404's new. I'm still using my PR4 ECU and I noticed a sizable gain over my stock head and better gas milage (maybe due to bad valve lash on old head) during my 2 hour trip. However, I do have GSR cams in my PR3 head. I pick up my pw0 programmed ECU this week and should be whole different beast!

Go with the B16. So much more room to work with. With 404's you're gonna want to get headwork (P&P, Valve springs, Retainers) but with the B16, you get a better flowing head as well as valvetrain and flow that'll give you power well up to 8k. Hope that helps.
