Tire install = Scratches?
Hey,
I recently picked up some rims(painted) and tires and wanted to know if I should avoid any particular types of tire mounting machines. My concern is that the rims will gets scratched. Am I being over cautious or is there a specific type I should look for?
THanks,
YV

If they do it right; it wont stratch it; I used to freak out about this too until my brother in law showed me how they work. Just tell them your very concerned w/how they handle your rims and to be careful. If they **** up ask to talk to the manager and raise all hell
I can tell you from experience, do not go to walmart (especially if you have 17" wheels or bigger. I got caught in a bind and had to have one tire put on a rim. They were like, we don't know if our machine will handle this...We can't even install tires on factory 17" bmw wheels....but we'll try it. They put two good scratches on the inside of the wheel. That's what I get though.
well, i had a set of painted rims and even with the chrome rim tools on our brand new more expensive machine, some of the paint was chipped off.
i do believe its really tough to prevent chips if your wheels are painted. sorry man
