Default 90-93 engines

I was wondering what was the difference between an f22a1 engine and a f22a6 engine. I looked at the compression ratio's and they look the same. Is the difference the intake manifold?

intake manifold and exhaust manifold and downpipe...exhaust manifold is a 4-2-1 for the a6 a1 is a 4-1...intake manifold has a butterfly valve which helps create more power for ther a6...a1 doesnt have it...there you go

Thank you. Do you know of any difficulties swapping the intake and exhaust to the a1?

None that I can think of.....should just bolt right up, and some people like to swap ECU's too. Basically your converting lx to ex its one basically a expensive way to get a few hp unless you plan on boosting .

The cam is different too. Might be cheaper to just buy a head off a wrecked Accord and plop it on instead of buying a new cam.

sorry to jack your post, but then the heads are the same? I was wondering if the cams are different, or they can be switched. Thanks

F22A1 - LX, DX

125hp

F22A4 - EX (90-91)

130hp - difference is a 4-2-1 exhaust manifold, and slightly larger diameter exhuast
piping

F22A6 - EX (92-93), SE

140hp - difference is a diff. computer, 4-2-1 exhaust manifold, different camshaft, and
a dual stage intake manifold (all are direct swaps).

If you're in the Dallas area, you could pull all the stuff you need from a few wrecked Accord at Honda Heaven in Arlington. http://www.h-heaven.com

Do you know how much of a hp difference the cam makes from the a1 to the a6?
