the money is legit... it's just the title transfer part... my friend was telling me something about titles and how owner can make up something about losing their title and give the new title to the purchaser, when in reality the owner has the title and reports the bike stolen? not sure......

i have never purchased a bike before..but if i do, it'll be in person, not long distance...are these advices given long distance purchase or can they be used for in person transactions also?
Whenever purchasing ANYTHING....ALWAYS make a letter of sale.....statin..for instance
"I Bla blalblalba purchased/sold a blalblalblalbal from, Mr. Blbla Blalalala for bla dollars. Their are no leins on this vehicle, and is being bought AS IS..... yada yada yada"
and then BOTH of you need to sign a copy, dude, i mean ****, you could go outta ur way as to get it notarized even if you wanted to be extra safe.
Always have a bill of sale, and a "reciept"...copy of the check and **** too.
Don't pay in cash, cuz theres no proof...Money order or certified check...something.
As far as the lost title....if you're in person, that shouldn't be a problem really. Sign it over to them...and its their reponsibility then to get another one....UNDER THEIR NAME....if they wanna' "give the title to someone else" then they have to sell them the vehicle.
My biggest tip to you- is use common sense, and trust ur gut instinct. You dont EVER -have- to do business with someone you feel uncomfortable with. Ask situation questions if youre not sure
