I bought a car from auction and the engine has a little orange paint near the "b18c1" The code is still there and I know the motor is stock and legit.. Im just curious if acura did it or what... Someone told me that it means the motor or block was purchased at the dealer.. Can anyone verify this?

 

Every manufacturer has a different way of doing things. I know some dealers spray an entire block/tranny section a different color if it was replaced. Some dealers spray it a different color if it was rebuilt. Some mark it, if it was replaced.

Check your carfax on the car. See if that was the original motor. If it isn't, then that's your answer.

 

if the whole little square where b18c1 is, is colored, its a factory replacement motor, i read that on another post a few days ago..

 

cool that must mean the motors been replaced
