a friend of mine is planing on biulding an all motor ls/vtec. he wants to biuld the head but is stuck on which type of cams to use. what do you guys prefer to be better in terms of performance and durability?

Oh dear lord.

Why don't you do some research. There's more info on this site than you could ever hope to read. Personally, I would take any Toda product over any Skunk2 product, and I think the vast majority of people will be inclined to agree.
