6th gear got up and walked away (Cannot go into 6th)
To start off I have an 02 S2K with around 27.7k miles. I'm driving around, to be honist I was at a higher RPM (Vtec engauged) and I'm being easy with the gears. 1st gear I take off a little, 2nd gear I get it up in the RPMs, I try to shift to third gear and push it a little too far into 5th with the clutch still down and it grinds a little. I take my hand off the shifter right away and think to myself (Not again). This has actually happened once before in the past.
Well after that little grind to 5th, I can't get it into 6th. It honistly feels like its not there anymore. Last time I took it to Honda under warrenty (which yes, I'm going to do AGAIN) they screwed it up even worse before I got it back corrected.
But it just feels like 6th isn't even there, literally. It feels like theres a metal plate stopping me from going into that gear.
Is there anything I can do right now because I gotta take a highway trip later on tomorrow and I don't wanna have to be stuck in 5th @ 70mph.
Anybody know what might be causing this?
If I can't fix it myself, I'm going to push Honda just to replace the whole damn transmission.
Thanks!
Edit : And yes, by the way, I'm a crappy shifter... I'm used to my Mustang shifter where the springs are so tight you gotta fight it into 5th.

You don't want to force anything into a gear on this tranny. Once the synchro's are messed up, they'll always be messed up. I take it you've grinded them a few times? One thing you can try is to shift the car with it turned off. Try it first without using the clutch, then try it using the clutch. Turn on the car and repeat except use the clutch (obviously). Remember, car is parked when you're trying this. When was the last time the tranny fluid was replaced? Was honda MTL or equivalent used? If it's been 10k miles or 8 months, might want to replace that tranny fluid anyway but then again it also depends on how you drive the car and how well you shift. I'm not a perfect shifter myself, but I've had the current honda MTL fluid in there for over a year (1.5 years) and need to change it b/c when cold, the shifting is a little notchy. This tranny is sensitive to rough shifting/grinding gears/missing shifts, take your time when you shift to prevent synchro damage that is not "fixable" unless you replace the synchros. The synchros cannot be replaced seperately and are sold as a set.

forgot to add, the shifting with the car off and then with it on will tell you if it's a clutch related issue (clutch is not engaging/releasing properly) or if it's a bearing/synchro problem.
Its not a syncro problem... Last time I had this problem, they adjusted the shift linkage (so they said) and I was able to use 6th normally once again. I was wondering how they did this.

Shift linkage - there isn't a shift linkage on the S2000s, the shifter goes straight into the transmission................ ????
