Default Rattling steering wheel.....

When I drive my car, it has a constant rattle in the steering wheel that fades away, then it starts rattling again and fades out. It happens the whole time I drive it but it's the worst on the freeway. I don't have power steering, but I don't have power steering in my '73 f-250 either and it doesn't do that. As far as I know the steering and drivegear is fine.....Any ideas..??

do you think its the actual steering wheel or could you have some alignment or tires issues?

I totally doubt it's allignment....it may be tires, as the ones I have on it are mismatched, but it's too drawn out to be tires I think......

may just want to have it looked at, and see if it is a major issue or if you can fix it yourself

have the alignment checked, and see if a belt is broken on the tires. also try and rotate your tires front to back and see if that helps. If it does it at 55mph or faster, have your tires balanced

mismatching tires makes one side track better than the other... could be quite dangerous under the right circumstances... not smart really...and it sounds like a balance problem...more than likely related with the tires.

Well, looks like alignment and tires are where I should start then. I'll keep ya posted. Thanks!
