My friend wants to put CTR's in his B18C1 and he has the race grind from crower (403's) do you think he will have valve to piston clearence problems?
My friend ran Ctr pistons w/ a ported Gsr head, itr cams/manifiold, 64mm tb, Pyr ecu and tuning. Everything put together by Pyr when they were in So. Cali. It dyno'd at 195.
GSR head and CTR pistons = 12.7+ :1 CR!
Hey DontBother, why is he wasting his time? Why bother posting if you are not even giving any details? Might as well "don't bother"...lol

sounds great, he has the skunk2 manifold and a 64mm throttlebody and a katman chipped p28, so it should run good!! Thanks for your help guys I'm new here and eveyone seems helpfull THANKS ALOT. I know alot about this stuff but numbers and experience are 2 differnent things. I'll take experience over numbers any day!!!!
I've got CTR pistons in my engine. Compression is the best way to get more power. You need them if you're running big cams. I'm not a big fan of the Crower's but hey whatever floats your boat.

Clearance issues should be fine with stock valves. If he is going to larger valves, he may need to have the valve releifs in the pistons machined to fit...

CTR pistons on a GSR are a real good idea, I'm about to shortly.
One thing:
CTR pistons+GSR head does not equal 12.7:1 CR, that's ridiculous. You'll be at 10.8:1 tops depending on whether you choose a thinner head gasket or not. A mugen head gasket will give you 11:1 CR. 12.7:1 isn't even streetable, unless you like spending $3 a gallon on 103 octane.

Yea, I'd like to know your mathematical formula as well.
If your formula stands true, then a stock ITR's numbers for cc, piston dome, stroke, etc. should leave you with about 7.5:1.
LOL.

LOL.
It is not 12.7, close, but not there. I thought it was about 12.53:1. I know, 12.7 to 12.53 is like splitting hairs...
Either way, it is way more than 10.8:1...

He has ITR's already but he wants more compression and with CTR"S around 12.5:1 is what he'll get!! You can find that info anywhere. Thats why I was askin about the clearence issues.
I don't want to give details. And "why bother?".. good question. Why bother posting anything at all? It's just another form of entertainment.
I guess being ignorant is one of ricer's entertainment...lol!
So, let me get this straight a CTR pistons in a stock GSR head gives you about a 12.5~:1 CR. What does a JDM ITR piston give in the same motor ?
My GSR Block has been honed to 91.5mm. Is there a CTR Piston that will fit my application? Thanks for any information!
You sure its not 81.5mm? If its 81.5mm you can use the .25 over ctr pistons
Yes, you are correct GSR, my mistake, I am running a 81.5mm bore not a 91.5mm bore. Thats good to know I can use the .25 over ctr pistons. Thanks again for pointing that out!
