Gear Grind
I seem to have this problem, that when I redline 2 gear and push it in to 3rd it makes a little grind noise but goes right in. Now if I drive normal and and shift from 2nd to 3rd slowly its fine. it only happens when i redline 2-3. Oh yeah i have a centre force dual friction clutch installed by a honda tech. any advice would be great thanks.
Its weird because it never did that before, and I don't drive the **** out of my car either. It also not a daily driver either it only started to do it a couple of months after the new clutch went in.. I'm a little worried now because i just bought a fmax turbo, i want to get ride of that damn grind.
Same exact problem with my car in the same gear. Sounds like the 2-3 upshift is not an unusual problem for lude owners. I think your synchros are shot. I belive its almost a $1,000 to fix because of the labor involved.

Ya I agree a couple months ago my car wouldn't go reverse at all. So I took it to the Toyota dealer where i bought it. They wanted $1600 to fix it but it was covered by the warranty and it only costed me $200 and it took 2 weeks for them to fix it.

for the first post, are you pushing the clutch pedal all the way in? if your are, could be that the clutch may need to be adjusted. For the second post your problem is the GM synchromesh FM it accelerates synchro wear plain and simple I am sorry you fell for the hype. Gm FM synchromesh cannot be used in a honda tranny let alone an LSD diff.
well damnit! which fluid do you reccomend Honda MTF? i asked sooo many times and read so many threads to see if it was ok and everyone said yeah... oh well, thank you for bringing this to my attention before it got to late

not necessarily, so it doesn't happen from 4th to 5th if you're high
in the rpm band when shifting?

Are you running any type of short shifter? Ive known this to happen to numerous civics and prelude cuz of shifters. Otherwise, syncromesh works wounders for the grinds. Id say give that a go.
If i were you look for recalls online. On my 97 the fifth gear syncros went out. I got it rebuilt under warranty by my local honda dealer. The problem is most dealer will not want to replace it not rebuilt it . So they might replace your tranny under warranty.
i used to have the same 2nd to 3rd grind.
I changed the tranny fluid (castrol 10w-30) and the next day it was gone.
I would say change the tranny fluid & then bleed the clutch, then top it off.
If that doesnt work, then you can worry about the synchros.
theres my .02
