Default code 1 (o2 sensor) in crx

Hey I have a brand new rebuilt engine in my 91 crx si, its built to stock spec d16a6, anyways lately when i drive and once my car hits operating temp. the cel comes on and codes a blink 1, o2. when i stop the car then start it up again there is no more cel until i start driving it again. i have reset the ecu multiple times by both pulling the negative terminal and also by pulling the hazzard fuse. you guys have any ideas. thanks alot ... chris

Its simple did you use the 02 from your last engine I pressume? Many things can **** up an 02 mechanically burning to much oil, coolant is a big killer as well.

I was throwing this code when I first bought my car, Just to make sure the voltage on the o2 was okay(which it wasnt) I backprobed into the o2 while the car was running and had warmed up.....to operating temp.

Voltage should fluctuate from .1 to .9(.9 being the most rich and .1 being the most lean) if its a constant voltage usually at a .1 (if its bad anyways) it will just stick theer pegged at lean, the 02 is shot, pop it out and shake it the zirconia crystal is prob. shattered.

Also unplug the connector and check for available voltage with your accesories(not like your lights on I mean with the key in the accesory position) on(car doesnt need to be running just make sure you have power going to the circuit) you should have 5 volts(well maybe its 12 since it isnt a heated o2 sensor and doesnt have a specific signal wire and reference wire) **** I cant remember I think its 12 since it is just supposed to get available voltage from your source(battery).

This is just to check circuit integrity most likely your wiring is fine, and o2 is just trashed its not uncommon on our old of cars for them to go kapoot.....replace the sensor if you come up with these findings and reset the 02 and go drive the car.....

Right now your car is staying in open loop and running very rich to protect the engine from detonation since the ecu really has no source other then map and tps telling it how much air is coming in and being burned as well. Ill bet your gas mileage sux and you might even blow smoke more noticably on colder nights since its easier to see?

I forgot to mention you can get a new o2 with the factory connector from most auto parts stores for 40 bucks roughly, or get a bosch universal one for liek 20.

If you feel comfortable doing it just get the universal it bolts right in and you can either cut/crimp it to your old 02 wire, or solder it like I did.......its 20 bucks cheaper and I dont need a 20 dollar connector 40 with the 02(pretty much thats what your paying for) when Im good enough to do lots of different wiring jobs.
