Noob clutch question. but no one has a definate answer.
Alright heres the scoop...
I have an 88 tranny, 88 pressure plate, 88 clutch disk. All aftermarket. But the I also have a new flywheel that is for 90-00 (aftermarket). I know the surface area is larger on the 90-91 but will it work?
I dont want to have to buy new stuff..
Im pretty desperate on the tranny situation and the 88 is twhat i have in the garage and only year i can seem to find...otherwise people want 200 bucks for an 89-91 si tranny plus shipping...which is too muc.

If i cant find a definate answer im gonna try it this weekend...see if the pressure plate even bolts to the flywheel..
Alright so what year is your car?? an 88. If so then why dont you just get the stock flywheel resurfaced(permitting it can be turned)?
n/m you just have the tranny.
So what is stopping you from getting a 88 flywheel why risk it when you can just save if you dont have the money and get a new one.....
btw I dont think anything above an 88 will fit a 89+ I cant speak for experience if the flywheel will bolt up but I would assume that since the splines on the clutch disk are different then I wouldnt be surprised to see the bolts matching up differently as well.
Who knows though Honda is crazy.

Well i have a brand new act prolite flywheel, i was gonna use this set up first:
89 si tranny.
Centerforce dual friction clutch, pp and act flwheel. All for 89-00.
The tranny is bunk.
So i have a 88 sitting around also. I have a somewhat new act street clutch for it. But i want to use my light flywheel... So thats why i ask.
